The Muglan Nepalese Restaurant Sydney

Well, I had planned to review this restaurant months ago but I’ve recently found out that they’ve closed their Pitt street restaurant and moved to Liverpool Street. As they have other places around Sydney the food must be similar, so I’ll post anyway! I went to their old Pitt Street restaurant with a group and we tried a number of different things.

The Nepalese food, on the whole, was closer to Indian food and was a bit too oily and had too much dairy product in it for me to truly enjoy it. The others around the table were quite pleased with the food and there wasn’t much left at the end of it, so, if you like that sort of thing you’ll probably enjoy it.

I decided this review was still worth mentioning as there is a new restaurant there (Best Friend Korean Restaurant), and one of the weird things about this place when it was The Muglan is the corridor you take to the toilets is actually the floor door for their basement storage. So, if you’re not looking, or had a few too many drinks, and someone had left the door up, you could conceivably fall down the steps straight into the basement. I was able to lower the door to allow for one of my group to pass through to the toilet area, but pranks could be easily had by trapping people in the toilets on the other side as there was no way to close the door, no steps  and no way to get back from the other end.

And if you had come out of the toilets without thinking that the floor might be gone, you may get at least get a couple of broken legs out of it.

Definitely a very dangerous thing to have in a restaurant and one that should have been fixed long ago. I haven’t been back to this location since so I’m hoping the new restaurant owner’s have done something about it.

So if you’re looking for Nepalese-Indian food and beer, check out one of the Muglan chain stores in Sydney.
